Foxy
This weekend, I bought some cheap Crayola markers and colored pencils to add to my creative toolbox. I've been leaning more toward digital techniques as of late, and I've been wanting to experiment with different mediums and do a bit more work by hand. While exploring, I figured I'd stick with bargain level supplies, so I bought fifty different colored markers and fifty different colored pencils for under $10. I've already enjoyed working on a few trial projects and will be posting some stuff up here, starting with this marker sketch of a fox:
Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun!!!
Lately, I've been doing what I can to attract more fun into my life whenever possible. That doesn’t mean shunning responsibilities, but instead working to make more of my responsibilities into generators of fun, positive feelings. I still have a way to go, but I believe it is a noble pursuit.
Today's illustration is inspired by my effort to create more rewarding and fun times every day.
Manny Enjoys the View
Meet Manny. I just did today by randomly drawing him. I've been having a lot of fun playing around with illustrator and fooling around with different ways of creating characters. This one started with a quick pencil doodle and ended with a lot of messing around.
Anyone Know Martian?
Recently, I've been practicing my vector character creation skills using good-old Illustrator. It's been pretty fun, so you'll probably see some more similar posts in the coming weeks. Then it'll be time for some After Effects animation drills!

I've been writing a lot of music lately. Hoping to get a few more demos recorded soon. Here's an experiment I have been working on recently. I plan to keep fooling with it. Maybe I'll post another version down the line.
A Good Day For a Sled
Enjoyed a little pre-holiday celebrating with my sister and her family today. I was lucky enough to get some sledding in with my nephew.
One Day In Fall
Took a pause on a bench while walking in Island Lakes Recreational Area to snap a quick pic. Only a few days have passed and now everything is covered in snow. Whiter pics incoming before too long.
One Line, Many Corners

Fall Colors
Another illustration appropriate for the season, plus some more experimenting with photoshop coloring. I think it's time to put a Wacom or iPad Pro on the dream board. ;)
Wakey, Wakey
I decided to do something Halloween themed today. Usually, I start with a hand-drawn image which gets touched up in photoshop, then imported into illustrator for some live tracing and coloring. This time, I skipped the Illustrator part and just did the coloring in photoshop. This allowed me to retain a bit more detail in the image.
Coffee Fuel
Working at Proper Cup Coffee Shop this afternoon. Drew a quick sketch of my french press in between job searching.
A Little Square
Freeing the brain today by doing a little doodling. I just started with one line on a blank page and decided to fill the whole thing with squares.
Visualizing Some Moola
I watched The Secret today. Figured I should put some of the concepts into practice and see what happens. Starting by visualizing a bunch of money coming my way. Couldn't hurt. ;)
Recharge in Nature
I have been doing my best to spend a lot of time in nature recently. I feel it is one of the best ways to recharge the body. Here are a few pictures I've taken while on some recent walks.
A Bum and His Dog
For some reason, I was inspired to draw a quick sketch of a bum wearing a garbage bag. Once I got going, I realized he needed a dog companion. Both of their names are Butch.
Backup Disk and USB Illustration
A friend and I are working on creating a new card game called Hidden Forces: Robo Wars. It is a two-player battle game pitting two robot armies against each other. Think Magic the Gathering meets Stratego and you'll get the basic idea. It has been a lot of fun to work on so far.
We conceived of the idea a number of months ago and first started testing and tweaking the basic concept with a normal deck of playing cards. It wasn't long until I was inspired to create an actual deck for us to work with. These really helped bring the idea to life. Now, after more playtesting, we're nearly ready to send the prototype off to the printer to get some sample decks printed so we can have even more people test it. First, I needed to create another couple illustrations for the last few cards we needed in the prototype deck.
Below are those final two illustrations I worked on today. Perhaps I'll share some of the other stuff on here at a later date.
